This is our very first game designed and developed specifically for parrots. Its a good tool for teaching a parrot to interact with a screen by using their tongue. Successful clicks on the phone or tablet can be rewarded with a treat to help the parrot learn what will initiate a response. Technically, a parrot could use a foot since a foot has the same electrostatic qualities as a tongue, but most parrots are going to explore with their beak and tongue.

The initial screen for Nutcracker! shows a set of five nuts in their shells. Touching any one of the nuts will trigger the image to change to a picture of an open nut with the word for that nut, and will also sound the name of the nut. Nutcracker! can be used in multiple ways, depending on the skill level of the individual parrot and the goals and purposes of their human caretaker. There are a total of ten different nut types, divided into two groups of five.

The control buttons that reset each screen and go to another page are small and intended to be used by the human, not the bird. Some parrots may figure out the navigation, but they are not too likely to click those buttons accidentally.
